  It has been a long break from academics for University of Maiduguri students due to the insurgent activities by Boko Haram. About two thousand five hundred students will be resuming academic session. Alot of rebuiding will have to be done in terms of physical infrastructure, security and much more the phychology of the students. The nefarious activities of these rebels seems not to be over yet but the state government with the support of the University commission and security organisations seems to show some commitment to the resumption of academic activities. The Nigeria University commission commends the effort of the state government especially in the erection of new buildings to create a befitting place for study.

Student-loan borrower woes are spilling over into the bond market. An increasing share of federal student-loan borrowers are entering into repayment plans that allow them to make smaller payments than they actually owe on the loans, according to new data out Friday. Some of these plans allow borrowers to make no payments. The trend has become an area of concern for a pool of federal loans that were originated by banks and other private lenders until 2010.
